Tony Stewart Crash [VIDEO]
Tony Stewart has undergone successful surgery to repair the broken right tibia and fibula he suffered in a sprint car race in Iowa Monday night. He will need a second surgery and remains hospitalized.
Stewart flipped his 360 winged sprint car while leading with five laps remaining in the 30-lap feature at Southern Iowa Speedway’s Front Row Challenge event. He was immediately transported by ambulance to the hospital after the violent crash seen here on video:
Along with driving in NASCAR, Stewart is heavily involved in sprint car racing with a multitude of well known drivers. That organization is known as Tony Stewart Racing.
There is no timetable for his return at this point. NASCAR has a report of the crash with video as well.
We have now been informed by the Associated Press that Max Papis will drive for Stewart at Watkins Glen this weekend.
Stewart is 11th in the standings, and with one victory this season, leads the race for the first Wild Card in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
