Toivonen Sixth, Ostrander Eighth After Second Round Of NCAA Championships
Marisa Toivonen carded a three-over-par 74 to move up three spots and is tied for sixth after 36 holes at the Rock Barn Golf Club.
Of the 12 individuals competing at the NCAA Championships, Toivonen and Ostrander are the second and third highest scoring individuals at the NCAA Championships after two rounds.
Ostrander started her day on the back-nine holes and played even-par through the first three before picking up a birdie on 13 to go one-under on the day. A bogey on hole 15 brought her back to even, where she would stay through the final three holes of the back nine. Ostrander picked up a birdie on her first hole of the front nine before ending the day at one-over-par 72 to move up to eighth place at six-over-par 148 (76-72) after two rounds.
Toivonen fired a three-over-par 74 this afternoon and is tied for sixth at five-over-par 147 (73-74). Toivonen started on hole 10 as well this afternoon and picked up two birdies on the back nine holes to head to the front nine at two-over-par on the afternoon. She fired a bogey on her final hole of the afternoon after staying on par through the first eight holes to finish the day three-over-par.
Maria Paola Fioria of Barry University leads all individuals after two rounds at two-over-par 144. Lynn University leads in the team scoring after two rounds at 23-over-par 591.
Ostrander and Toivonen set to tee-off Friday morning in the third round of the tournament.
