Patrick Lalley Launching Talk Show On What Interests, Excites Us
The grass is pretty green in Sioux Falls.
I love this city. I was born here, educated here and -- though I’ve been lucky enough to live in a few other places in my career – I’m a South Dakotan.
So I’m thrilled to join the Results Radio family as the host of a new afternoon show we’re launching on KSOO-AM.
The show will fill the 3 to 5 p.m. time slot on weekdays beginning June 19. My hope is to engage KSOO listeners with a variety of news, information and analysis.
It’s not just government and politics, however.
The topics will cover about anything that interests us and excites the great people who live here.
That means music, economics, books, sports and politics.
It’s local, regional and national.
There will be something for everybody, not just a narrow slice of some stereotypical political or social construct.
Producer Dan Peters and I have completely opposite life stories, yet we can discuss all kinds of topics.
If Dan and I can do it, there’s room for you.
Hosting this new adventure is more than those two hours.
I’ll also be writing pretty much every day here at KSOO.com and for the sites of our Results Radio sister stations. That means we can expand the radio conversation into this space any time of the day. That discussion includes social media, video and even the old standby – the telephone.
I spent two decades in daily journalism, covering the Midwest for a series of Iowa and South Dakota newspapers. I’ve been a guest on dozens of radio shows, from regular appearances on Rick Knobe’s Viewpoint University here at KSOO, to nationally syndicated programs such the Laura Ingraham Show and NPR.
I’ve supplied spot analysis for European stations that I can’t even remember, including at least one from Dublin.
None of that prepares me for what comes next.
Leading the show is an incredible opportunity and huge challenge. Thanks to my colleagues at Results Radio, I’ve been learning a whole new skill set.
I’m not afraid to admit that I have a long way to go.
To that end, I’d like your feedback, good and bad, when we launch and beyond.
Don’t be afraid. You can’t offend me. I can take it.
In the meantime, you can follow me on social media through all the normal channels. I’ll provide some links at the bottom.
Thank you for this opportunity.
