Those federal user fees on your monthly cellphone bills could be going up.

ABC News reports, earlier this summer President Obama ordered the Federal Communications Commission to wire 99% of Americans schools to the internet within five years.

Now the Deputy Press Secretary, Josh Earnest, confirms cellphone owners will be asked to pay a user fee to cover the expense.

We're asking for a modest $5 more a year from each cellphone owner.

Being the FCC is an independent governing body, the President can't force it to agree - so only time will tell if the extra charge will eventually show up on your bill.
