Instilling Hope [AUDIO]
If you’re suffering from depression, Carol Kivler says there is hope!
Diagnosed with a mental illness in 1990, Carol has battled periodic bouts of medication resistant depression—responsive only to ECT (electroconvulsive therapy).
Since 1990, Carol has experienced both long periods of recovery and four acute episodes of depression, each time requiring hospitalization and additional ECT treatments. For Carol, ECT has become her “ladder out of the depression pit.”
Carol founded Courageous Recovery to continue to share her personal story of depression, treatment and recovery with healthcare professionals, organizations, patients, and the family and friends of those diagnosed with mental illness. Carol’s mission is to dispel the myths and stigma surrounding mental illness and inspire hope that recovery is real!
