Former Skyforce Guard Signs with Miami Heat

Reggie Williams NBA journey will now make a stop in South Beach as the former Skyforce Guard has joined the Miami Heat.

The Miami Heat announced the signing Tuesday and Williams will be in the fold for training camp this fall.  Starting in 2009 as a 3rd Round choice by the Sioux Falls Skyforce, Williams proved his worth by lighting up the NBADL for 26.4 points per game before being called up by Golden State.  The 6’6”, 210-pound guard then played two seasons with Charlotte.

Last season as a free agent, Williams signed with Houston, but was one of the last cuts at the end of training camp.  Eventually Williams landed back in the D-League with Tulsa and was called up to Oklahoma City on a couple of 10-day contracts.  After the regular season, Williams then landed in the Philippine Basketball Association for 10 games for the San Miguel Beermen.

Williams, a five-year NBA veteran, has appeared in 180 regular season career games (32 starts) averaging 8.5 points, 2.6 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 19.7 minutes while shooting 46.0 percent from the field, 37.1 percent from three-point range and 74.3 percent from the foul line.  Collegiately, Williams led the NCAA in scoring average in consecutive seasons at Virginia Military Institute.
