Forget Seattle – Jared Allen Now Heading To Chicago (Allegedly)
All of his career, Jared Allen has been pulling off the unexpected. His moves have made him one of the top pass rushers in the game.
But his latest move may top them all.
Just a week after it was being reported that former Minnesota Vikings all-pro defensive lineman Jared Allen was on his way to Seattle to sign a free agent deal with the Seahawks, comes word Wednesday morning that Allen instead will not only not be going to the Pacific Northwest, he’ll actually be staying in the NFC North – with the Chicago Bears.
The Associated Press is reporting that Allen has agreed to terms with the Bears on a four-year deal to help replace Julius Peppers in Chicago. Allen will get $15.5 million guaranteed on a deal that could be worth as much as $32 million.
Allen, 31, spent the last six seasons with the Vikings. He had 11 1/2 sacks last season and has reached double digits in sacks for seven straight years.
