Gene Hetland

Hi, and thanks for logging on! I'm a lifelong South Dakotan, in fact a lifelong eastern South Dakotan. I grew up on a farm north of Montrose, in McCook County and am a South Dakota State University grad (Go Jacks!). I lived and worked for a time in Huron after college and have lived in Sioux Falls since January of 1975. My wife's name is Sharon and we're Twins fans, although some years it isn't easy. I hope you'll keep checking my posts. We're not going to get into who's right, who's wrong or who's full of something. I'm just telling you a bit about what's going on with me.

Congress returns to work after the 2012 General Election much the same as before, with each political party congrolling one chamber.

Bipartisanship Ahead?

The election is over, and with a few exceptions, the picture in Washington is going to be pretty much the same.

President Obama in his second term will have to find ways to work with a divided Congress who, despite all the talk of "reaching across the aisle" and "building bridges," could just wind up going on as it has before

South Dakota has one seat in the US House. To some, it's a "kibe" House Seat.

The Lone House Seat

But why is it always our "lone" seat?

Can't it just be South Dakota's US House seat?

The offender of my sensibilities this time was a TV station, although usually it's a news service
