An arson case with some sinister overtones is being investigated in southeast Sioux Falls.

Police Detective Jon Carda says authorities were called shortly before 11pm Friday to the 3200 block of South Nic Ann Court, where residents reported five pink crosses had been stuck into the ground in a drainage area on city property behind that address, and then set on fire.

Carda says the neighbors didn't see who set the fire, although they did hear voices in the area before they noticed the fire.

So far, police have no suspects.

Carda says the investigation is ongoing, and he says anyone who knows the origin of the five pink crosses or whoever started the fire is asked to contact police.
