With their road trip almost finished, the Sioux Falls Skyforce start their NBA Development League season with three straight wins.  Sioux Falls topped the Maine Red Claws on Sunday afternoon 98-87 at the Portland Expo Building.

The game was a seesaw battle through the first three quarters, with the Skyforce scoring the first seven points of the game but Maine rallying to lead 28-27 at the end of the first quarter. The Red Claws led at the break 54-51. The defense tightened in the third quarter with both teams going dry for a three and a half minute stretch late in the period before the two teams ended the third frame at a 69-69 stalemate.  The fourth quarter saw the Skyforce score on seven straight possessions during a 16-5 run to put the game out of reach.

Sioux Falls guard Andrew Goudelock led all scorers with 24 points, while Jarvis Varnado got 15 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks.  Troy Hudson, Mark Tyndale and Will Foster also supported the effort with double-figure point totals.  The Red Claws who are now 2-2 on the year were paced by Micah Downs with 19 points and Chris Wright collected a double-double with 17 points and 12 rebounds.

Next up for the Sioux Falls Skyforce will be a late-morning start for a kid’s day event in Tulsa.  Tipoff is at 11 a.m. Central Time on Wednesday.  On Friday, the ‘Force host Erie at the Sioux Falls Arena.  Maine will travel to Erie and face the Bayhawks on Thursday.
