12-Year-Old Boy Arrested, Attempting to Sell Marijuana at School
Sioux Falls Police arrested a 12-year-old boy on Monday after he tried to sell marijuana at Edison Middle School.
Police Spokesman Sam Clemens says the boy brought marijuana to school on Monday and tried to sell it to his classmates.
Once school staff became aware of the situation, Clemens says his locker was checked and 3.7 grams of the drug were found.
Clemens says the arrest of a 12-year-old on drug charges is unusual.
"It's not something we normally come across. We probably don't have a lot of problems trying to sell drugs in school. I think the school district does a good job of getting that message out there--drugs aren't tolerated and we have a zero tolerance policy as well."
The student was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
