Mitchell Boy Believed Abducted Found Safe; No Arrest Made
MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — A 4-month-old Mitchell boy who authorities suspect was abducted by his father in an ongoing custody dispute was found safe.
Police say the father allegedly took the child from the child's grandmother on Tuesday afternoon.
The boy and father were found about two hours later on tribal grounds near Wagner. The Daily Republic reports that Detective Lt. Don Everson says there was no immediate arrest in the incident, but authorities are seeking state criminal charges.
Tribal officers conducted a welfare check on the child.
