A 25-year-old Sioux Falls woman faces charges after a police chase that left a Highway Patrol trooper injured and her with gunshot wounds.

Lincoln County State's Attorney Tom Wollman and Minnehaha County State's Attorney Aaron McGowan say Rachel Lee Coleman is charged with attempted first-degree murder, aggravated assault on law enforcement, vehicular battery, DWI, felony eluding and felony hit-and-run.

The charges stem from a pursuit early Wednesday in which Highway Patrol Trooper Andrew Steen was struck by a car and then run over, and Coleman was woulded when law officers fired on her.

Wollman and McGowan say they both will lead the prosecution since the alleged crimes occurred both counties, but the case will be heard in Lincoln County.

Coleman is being held on a $500,000 arrest warrant.

Trooper Steen underwent successful surgery early Thursday to relieve pressure on his brain.
