Work on $15.3M Mitchell Performing Arts Center Taking Shape
MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — A new $15.3 million fine arts center for the city of Mitchell is being to take shape.
The Daily Republic reports that excavation began in June on the project, which will feature a 1,200-seat theater, rooms for the school's music and drama programs and a smaller black box theater.
The performing arts center is being built across the street from Mitchell High School, and it will connect to part of the Mitchell Career and Technical Education Academy.
Officials hope the project will be completed by Thanksgiving.
Director of Bands Ryan Stahle and Vocal Director Chris Miller say it's exciting to see the new facility take shape. Both praised the space and set up.
