The 137th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is underway today and tomorrow at Madison Square Garden in New York City.  The event wraps up tomorrow evening with one dog walking away with the "Best of Show" trophy.

There are more than 2,700 entries this year and 187 different breeds represented.

New this year is the Walker Coon Hound and the Russell Terrier.

One of the top contenders this year is believed to be the Doberman, who reached the "Best of Seven" last year.  Others to watch - the Fox Terrier and the German Wirehaired Pointer.

Did you know the Westminster dog show is the second longest running continuous sporting event in the United States?  It is, right behind - the Kentucky Derby.

I enjoy watching the show each year with my Carin Terrier "Maddy."  I like to use it as a learning experience.  We sit there and I ask her, "Why can't you be well behaved like that?"

And apparently I'm not alone.  Each year the Westminster does very well in the TV ratings.
