Teri Schmidt, from the Sioux Falls Convention & Visitor's Bureau, was on the radio with me this morning and said we have some very special people in Sioux Falls this week.  They're here as part of the "Travel Media Showcase" and are in town all week holding meetings and touring the area.

The group consists of travel writers from all over the world, which will hopefully translate into lots and lots of free press! So...Teri is asking that everyone be on their best behavior; which should be pretty easy given the fact some of the nicest people in the world live right here in what we often times refer to as, "The Sioux Empire."

Okay, so we may not have big majestic mountains or white sandy beaches, but we do have something very few other areas have... kind friendly people.  My wife happens to work in the area of recruiting doctors to the area.  One of the first things her recruits will comment on is how friendly the people are here.  They can't believe people actually say "hi"to each other, or stop their car and let someone pull into traffic.

They're probably right; we don't realize how good we have it here.  We live and see it everyday.  My hope is that one or two of these writers goes home and does a story on the "people" of Sioux Falls rather the various attractions, because when it comes to the people "we take a backseat to no one."

Enjoy your time here travel writers.
