Viking Women Remain No. 7; Men Fall To 19th In Track Poll

NEW ORLEANS, LA — The Augustana men’s and women’s indoor track and field teams remained in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association top 25 poll released by the USTFCCCA on Tuesday afternoon. The women hold their position at No. 7 while the men fall one slot to 19th.
Grand Canyon (Ariz.) remains in the top spot on the men’s side with 200.07 points and Grand Valley State has a secure hold of the No. 1 ranking for the women with their 237.45 points.
The rankings are based on computer projections on how a team would fare at a National Championship setting as opposed to a dual meet. The data collected comes from 2012-13 meet results as well as results from the 2011-12 season for returning athletes.
The women’s score checks in at 91.26 after dropping 2.44 points from the preseason rankings. The men tallied 47.19 points, a 0.81 decrease.
The Vikings are in action this weekend at the Minnesota State Open in Mankato, Minn. on Saturday Jan. 26.
