Two Arrested After Early-Morning Pursuit in Sioux Falls
Two people are in custody after a pursuit early Monday in Sioux Falls.
Police spokesman Sam Clemens says an officer noticed a Chevrolet Suburban being driven erratically near 12th Street and Grange Avenue and pursued it for a time before losing sight of the suspect vehicle around 6th and Dakota.
Other officers saw the vehicle near Falls Park, but when they tried to stop the vehicle, it took off eastbound on Rice Street.
The SUV eventually turned south and left the roadway in a wooded area, where the vehicle was abandoned on East Iris Place.
Police began a canine track and two people were arrested near a house in the area of the 1400 block of East Rice.
Twenty-eight-year-old Richard L. Pounds of Wagner was jailed for aggravated eluding, driving while suspended and moving violations. Alonna L. Weddell, a 21-year-old Sioux City, Iowa resident, was lodged for warrants.
