You know, there are a lot of easy jokes that can be made whenever a woman gets herself in line with three basketball players, but for now we’ll leave the comedy to Mindy Kaling and the good people writing FOX’s ‘The Mindy Project.’  It’s an NBA three-pointer as FOX’s freshman comedy ‘The Mindy Project’ has scouted NBA stars Amar’e Stoudemire, Baron Davis, and Danny Granger for guest appearances in the former ‘The Office‘ star’s  inaugural season, but who will the players play?

Entertainment Weekly is reporting that New York Knicks forward Amar’e Stoudemire, free agent guard Baron Davis, and Indiana Pacers forward Danny Granger have all been drafted for an appearance on ‘The Mindy Project,’ send to  debut its first season September 25 on FOX.  Rather than commit any kind of foul however, all three NBA stars rs will appear as themselves in the show’s fourth episode when Kaling’s titular Mindy goes on an outing with her co-workers to a nightclub, and winds up hanging out with the players in the VIP section.

Stoudemire, Davis and Granger join ‘The Mindy Project’s season 1 guest roster, which to date includes ‘Gossip Girl’ vet Amanda Setton, character actor Stephen Tobolowsky and the show’s own Executive Story Editor Ike Barinholtz.  Both ‘SNL‘ vet Bill Hader and Kaling’s former ‘The Office’ co-star Ed Helms appear in the show’s pilot episode, which computer-savvy folk can watch online beginning August 27.

What say you?  Do you think the NBA stars can handle themselves on ‘The Mindy Project’ without dropping the ball?  Will the new series be a slam dunk?  Additional basketball reference?  Give us your reaction in the comments below!
