Suspect Attacks Woman with Broken Beer Bottle
SIOUX FALLS – It began with a dispute over cigarette smoke, but Sioux Falls Police say it led to a 16-year-old who is four months pregnant being knocked to the ground and also pulled from her car.
Information Officer Sam Clemens says it happened around 9:30 Tuesday evening at a soccer field at Kenny Anderson Park, in the northeast part of the city. Clemens says a woman who was smoking walked past the pregnant girl, who asked her to smoke somewhere else.
“The woman took offense to that and some words were exchanged. The suspect grabbed the victim’s hair and threw her down to the ground. The friends started holding the suspect back and the victim walked to a car that was nearby. The suspect then came to the car and ended up pulling [the victim] out of the car.”
Clemens then said the suspect broke a beer bottle and then tried to stab the victim with the broken bottle.
Clemens says the victim was cut on one shoulder with the broken bottle, but the injury was not serious. He says she got back into a vehicle and went to police headquarters to report the incident.
The other woman was not located. She was described as a black female 16 to 20 years old, 5′ 4″ tall with a thin build and black and brown hair.
