Study: It Takes Only Seven Minutes a Day to Keep Kids in Shape
Prying your children away from their video game consoles and getting them to play outside for an hour might be somewhat of a task, but a new study suggests that all you have to do is keep them active for seven minutes to keep them healthy and physically fit.
According to researchers at Canada’s Manitoba Institute of Child Health, children who involve themselves in physically demanding activity for seven minutes at a time receive more health benefits than if they were to exercise at seemingly normal pace for an hour.
Researchers say that the results from this type of short burst exercise can benefit all children, regardless of their diet, mainly because specific enzymes are released during high intensity exercise that have positive affects on the body’s metabolism.
Study experts also believe that short burst, high intensity workouts can be beneficial to adults and should become a regular part of their everyday lives.
