Being from a state where the entire population is comparable to the city of San Francisco means when national attention arrives, it’s actually a big deal. South Dakota is living in high times with basketball players (Colton Iverson, Mike Miller & Nate Wolters) and basketball entertainers (the Crevier family from Elkton) gaining notoriety.
The next South Dakota splash has nothing to do with basketball. A Burbank native will perform on a new game show broadcast by NBC Television on Thursday July 11. Douglas Roegiers is among six singers that will compete on a show called “The Winner Is” for a $1 million prize. Roegiers currently performs with a 9-piece swing band and is known as “The Crooner”. Roegiers now lives in North Hollywood, CA so don’t confuse the little town east of Vermillion with the suburb of Los Angeles.
Premise-wise according to Sioux Falls NBC affiliate KDLT, the show mixes singing competition with the strategy of a game show. The show premiers at 8 pm Thursday night.
