As the Sioux Falls Area grows, correspondingly the need for local government to provide services for its population increases.  As a result, a joint agreement was signed Thursday  that will share human resources capabilities between Minnehaha and Lincoln Counties.

Minnehaha County Commission Vice Chairman Gerald Beninga says the move was the right course to take at this time because human resource changes were occurring in one county while the other was considering starting their own HR department and the two entities worked together to make it happen.

Beninga says the move also prevents a duplication of services over the two governments and reduces the startup costs for Lincoln County as the growth to the south of Sioux Falls necessitates expansion of services.  The agreement calls for a start date of January 1st 2013 and Minnehaha County will simply keep track of billable hours for any services needed in human resources incurred by Lincoln County.
