The 34th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Sioux Falls is set for this Saturday (March 16) starting at 2pm downtown.
In 2012, a record crowd lined the streets as the high hit 80 that afternoon! This years forecast high is 34. Leave the shorts and flip flops at home and grab a more traditional jacket and gloves!
The ‘first lady of Sioux Falls’, Sylvia Henkin, will be the grand marshal for the parade. The festivities get underway at 11:45am with the traditional painting of the shamrock at 9th & Phillips.
The parade forms at 5th Street and Main Avenue beginning at 12:30 p.m. Vehicles will be lined up on a first-come, first served basis, and will proceed through the downtown area, starting at 5th Street and Main Avenue.
There is no entry fee to participate in the parade. The only requirement is that each adult (age 16 and older) participating in the parade must purchase and wear an official St. Patrick’s Day Parade button. The cost is $3 per button, the proceeds of which are donated to the Special Olympics and other worthwhile charities in the Sioux Falls area. Buttons are available at the Chamber of Commerce office at 200 N. Phillips Ave., Suite 102.
