Sioux Falls Skyforce Present New Head Coach
The past five seasons have seen a bevy of coaching changes for the Sioux Falls Skyforce seeing five different men hold the position. It hearkens back to the period from 1999-03 when the door to the position revolved quite freely also. Over those four seasons, five men led the Skyforce to varying degrees of success plus a journey from the CBA to the IBL and back.
The Skyforce and Miami Heat partnership looks to add stability to the position as Pat Delany becomes the 16th head coach in franchise history. The hybrid partnership between the two entities places the responsibility of the basketball product solely on the NBA entity. Delany comes at this opportunity as a long-serving member of the Miami Heat. The last six seasons Delany has been an advance scout and has served in numerous other roles in the five years before that for a total of eleven years served.
As you discover more about the Heat organization, it’s very similar to what the Skyforce are. Both organizations have employees with long tenures, family owned structures and championships over their concurrent histories. From the opening moments of the hybrid agreements indications are the Heat are fully invested in the NBADL and what the league can provide. Andy Elisburg Senior Vice President and Assistant General Manager (right-hand man of President Pat Riley) remarked at the introduction ceremony at the Sanford Fieldhouse that he even plans to buy a winter coat. For the uninitiated, winter coats are not standard issue in Miami.
