The Sioux Falls Police Department and Metro Communications are proud to announce that they will be hosting a Citizens’ Academy.

The Academy consists of training in topics such as police patrol procedures, K-9 operations, crime scene processing, crime prevention, and investigative methods of fraud, narcotics, theft, and assaults. Metro Communications will also share information on how 911 calls are processed from the time the call is first received in the 911 Center until emergency responders arrive on scene. Participants will have the opportunity to hear live calls and gain an understanding of how the 911 Center operates.

Classes will be held on Thursday evenings from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. for ten weeks. The 2013 session begins January 10, 2013, and ends March 14, 2013. The classes will be conducted at the Sioux Falls Law Enforcement Center, located at 320 West Fourth Street.
