Police say a Sioux Falls man who went to an address in the southwest part of the city to buy a car was instead robbed of the cash he was planning to use for the vehicle.

Information Officer Sam Clemens says it was around 6:30 Friday evening when the would-be vehicle buyer went to the 5100 block of West 45th Street:

Clemens says the victim gave police a name, but that person hasn't been located yet. The victim told police the purported buyer was a "friend of a friend."

The amount of cash taken was not disclosed, but Clemens says it was more than a thousand dollars.
