Could singing make you healthier?

That's what researchers at the University of California San Francisco want to know.

It's long been believed that singing calms the heart and improves overall health - especially in seniors.

Now researchers in UC San Francisco are conducting a study to see if singing can actually lead to a longer, healthier life.

They've set up choirs and are watching the health of the participants.

Julene Johnson is helping run the study.

So far, we've found that older adults who sing in a choir actually fall less and have better lower body strength.

Researchers also believe singing may help the respiratory system for better breathing in older adults.
