Shopping Security Reminders from Sioux Falls Police
From Sioux Falls police comes the annual reminder about keeping your valuables secure while you shop for Christmas.
Captain Greg VandeKamp says it happens every year, as packages and other purchases are stolen from vehicles in parking lots while the owners are inside doing more shopping.
He says while you are shopping, anything you buy should be secured in the trunk of your vehicle or behind the back seat, where they can't be seen.
He also says you need to secure your vehicle as well as your valuables.
VandeKamp says it's important to lock your vehicle and shut it off, even if you're just running into a store for a minute, and take your keys.
