CANTON, S.D. (AP) — Members of Canton Lutheran Church say they're shocked by allegations against a former pastor.

Tony Haglund is accused of having sex with a teenage girl between January 2011 and December 2013, while he worked at the church. He was arrested earlier this week in Florida, where he's a real estate agent.

Church member Kim Wentz tells KELO-TV that Haglund was a highly respected and trusted minister, and the accusations are shocking.

But church members say part of the healing process for the congregation will involve forgiveness. Member Kristin Goodroad says everyone is human and makes mistakes — though she says it's hard to fathom how a pastor could allegedly commit such a crime.

A woman who answered Haglund's cellphone Wednesday told The Associated Press that he had no comment.
