Researchers Warn Against Yellow Dye. Chances Are You Have Some Of The Products.
A chemical compound found in yellow dyes – used in products you may have – could be toxic, that according to a recent study.
Researchers at Rutgers University discovered that yellow dye, found in everything from clothing to maps to construction paper to napkins, may be harmful.
Lisa Rodenburg, Associate Professor of Environmental Chemistry at Rutgers University, was the lead author.
“I don’t think people should be terrified about this, but they do need to be aware.”
An earlier study done at the University of Iowa in 2010 found PCBs in yellow dye actually leached out and showed up in blood samples of 60% of the women tested.
Little is known about the health effects, but PCBs in general are known to cause cancer and birth defects.
