Report: Rapid City Regional State’s Least Safe
RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) – Rapid City Regional Hospital’s chief executive officer is denouncing a national nonprofit’s report that ranked the hospital among the least safe in the nation and the worst in South Dakota.
The Rapid City Journal reports that the Washington, D.C-based Leapfrog Group gave the hospital a “D” grade for patient safety. The group says Rapid City Regional earned the lowest marks of the eight hospitals the organization surveyed in South Dakota and was one of only 148 in the country that earned a “D” grade.
Hospital CEO Tim Sughrue released a statement that criticized Leapfrog Group and its methodology. Sughrue says the hospital received a D grade because it chose not to complete a survey Leapfrog had sent the hospital.
