RAPID CITY, S.D. (AP) — Gold coins wrapped in $100 bills have been found in two Salvation Army donation kettles in Rapid City.
Salvation Army spokesman Mark Kirkeby says the anonymous donations are worth a total of about $2,600.
Donations of such coins in Salvation Army kettles has become an annual holiday event in many cities around the country. Kirkeby says gold coins have been found in Rapid City kettles for at least seven years.
