MITCHELL, S.D. (AP) — Police in Mitchell say someone pilfered two poodle puppies from a local pet store.

Authorities say someone broke into Ed's Pet World early Tuesday and took the poodles worth nearly $600 each. Business owner Ed Anderson says the masked thief also took cash from the store. The thefts were captured by the store's surveillance cameras.

Anderson says the eight-week-old puppies were just weaned from their mother, and he worries the thief won't properly care for them.

A $250 reward is being offered in the case.
