Parents Fined For Child’s Bullying [AUDIO]
In an effort to curb bullying, a Wisconsin town is allowing police to ticket the alleged bully’s parents for a municipal violation which could come with a fine of over 100 dollars.
Darcy Jensen of Prairie View Prevention Services in Sioux Falls says more has to be done to curb bullying. “If we just look at ‘let’s fine them’ and we don’t do anything to correct the situation, I think we miss an important opportunity to really make a significant change.”
Darcy says ticketing and fining parents could be a tool, but it’s not the way to put an end to bullying.
The Wisconsin State Journal reports that the new tactic is a part of a broader ordinance aimed at curbing bullying that was passed by the Monona, Wisconsin City Council on May 20th.
