New Link Between Autism And Inducing Labor
A new suspect is emerging in the mystery of what causes Autism.
Inducing labor in the mother may raise a baby's risk of Autism.
According to Duke University, a review of more than 600 thousand birth records found babies born to women whose labor was induced by hormones or drugs had a 27% higher risk of Autism.
However, while they call the results interesting, they're not sure it's a direct cause, and they point out, if the life of the mother or baby are at risk, extended labor can be more dangerous.
They also say certain medical conditions during pregnancy that can lead to the need for labor induction may be the real driving force.
