Netflix Losing 2,000 Titles Immediately
The Atlantic Wire is calling it "The Great Netflix Vanishing Act of 2013". Today, 1,794 movies were removed from Netflix' instant streaming video service. The movies have become the exclusive property of Warner Archive Instant, another streaming service offering rare and hard-to-find movies. That service launched in April.
In a statement released by Netflix Communications Director Joris Evers, Netflix is adding 500 titles immediately, but there are contracts that are expiring so this is merely the ebb and flow that they always experience.
If you were planning on streaming Cruel Intentions or Big Daddy after dinner tonight on Netflix, you'll have to go some place else, but I'm sure there will be plenty of movies still available. Really. When was the last time you streamed the James Bond classic Octopussy anyway?
