A Renner man was killed Tuesday evening in a two-vehicle crash at East Tenth Street and Chapel Hill Road, just east of Cleveland Avenue in eastern Sioux Falls.

Police Lieutenant Jerome Miller says it happened around 6:23pm, when the driver of an eastbound Buick tried to turn left onto Chapel Hill Road and was broadsided by a westbound Hummer.

Miller says a passenger in the Buick, 75-year-old James L. Heezen of Renner, was trapped in the vehicle and died of his injuries.

The Sioux Falls man who was driving the Buick, 72-year-oldHarlan E. Brandsrud, and the driver of the Hummer, 28-year-old Jacqueline Saez-Quiles of Sioux Falls and her three children, alges 9, 11 and 12 were all treated at a hospital for their injuries, which Miller says were mostly minor.

Miller says police are still investigating and no charges have been filed so far.

But he says police are looking for the driver of a westbound silver or white SUV that had stopped in the inside lane and, according to witnesses, "waved the driver of the Buick through" to make his left-hand turn when the Buick was struck broadside.
