OMAHA, NE — South Dakota State starting pitcher Kori Seidlitz tossed a career-high nine innings without giving up a run in the series finale at Omaha on Saturday, but the Mavericks finally pushed a run across in the bottom of the 10th inning to walk off with a 1-0 win.

The loss drops the Jackrabbits to 9-18 on the season overall and to 1-5 in The Summit League, while the host Mavericks improve to 25-4 overall and to 3-0 in the league after the series sweep.

Seidlitz, scattered four hits with seven strikeouts and four walks in the loss, which drops her to 5-12 on the season. Omaha starter Dana Elsasser pitched all 10 innings for the Mavs, giving up just two hits, with 11 strikeouts and no walks in the win, which boosts her record to 15-4.

The Jackrabbits mounted their biggest threat in the top of the 10th inning, when Elyse Eitel reached on an error to open the frame, and then advance to second in the next at back on a Sammy Bingham sacrifice. Allison Huffman came up next and singled to left, advancing Eitel to third, but got thrown out at second for the second out of the inning.

Seidlitz came up next, but could not get Eltel home, ending the threat, and sending the game to the bottom of the 10th, where the Mavericks wasted little time in plating the game’s lone run.

Lindsay Redd drew a leadoff walk, and then quickly stole second, setting the table for Allie Mathew, who singled up the middle and scored Redd to end the game.

The Jackrabbits look to get back on the winning track on Wednesday, when they host North Dakota in non-conference action at Jackrabbit Softball Stadium. The doubleheader with UND starts at 2 p.m.
