So I'm visiting with a friend over the weekend and he tells me about his trip to the Sioux Empire Fair.  New this year was the largest portable roller coaster in North America and deep fat fried Kool Aide balls.  Of course, my reaction was, "You're kidding me, right?"  Nope, he wasn't.  Apparently, that's the big "Fair Food" this year.  I looked it up on the Internet and the recipe is pretty simple...flower, water, Kool Aide and powered sugar (if you feel like living dangerously).  My friend said they were actually pretty good.  (I've got to admit, they do sound kind of tasty).  You gotta wonder though where it's all gonna end.  First it was deep fat friend Snickers, then bacon and now Kool Aide?  How about next year we open up a booth and sell deep fat fried "deep fat fry"?  You know, the stuff that you deep fat fry other stuff in.  I would think all you would have to do is let the deep fat fry (a.k.a. grease) cool so it solidifies into a big pile of lard and then you roll it into little balls and deep fat fry it...creating deep fat fried "deep fat fry."  You laugh, but as my Grandma used to say, "You know, you never know, you know."  And if you're wondering how the roller coaster is, my friend said make sure you ride it BEFORE you sample the Kool Aide balls.
