How Often Do Gamblers Actually Win?
The Wall Street Journal has the answer. It took a look at public data on the behavior of thousands of Internet gamblers over a two year period.
The study showed gamblers won money on only 30% of the days they wagered.
And when they continued to play, just 11% ended up in the black over the full two year period – and most of those walked away with less than $150.
When heavy gamblers were followed, of the top 10% of bettors – those placing the biggest number of total wagers – about 95% ultimately ended up losing money. Some lost as much as tens of thousands of dollars.
