Horses Die in Barn Fire in Wall, South Dakota
WALL, S.D. (AP) - A weekend fire destroyed a barn in a rural area north of the southwest South Dakota town of Wall and killed the two horses inside.
Wall Fire Chief Jim Kitterman tells the Rapid City Journal that crews from four area towns battled the fire along with nearby landowners in strong winds and heat for more than four hours Sunday afternoon. The blaze spread to grass and trees before being extinguished.
Kitterman says crews had to haul water from about six miles away.
The cause of the fire was not immediately determined.
