Grandpa Used to Say ‘I Smell Rain Moving In!’ Could He?

The thunder and lighting in the spring and summer always reminds me of when people would say they could smell rain coming. I wanted to know if that was a real thing or an old wives tale.

I found this video from The Weather Channel that explains it. Turns out, yes you can smell the rain. There are a couple of distinct rain smells, one comes from bacteria on plants and the other from ozone created by lighting.
