Franklin Named USHL Midseason All-Star

Sioux Falls Stampede forward C.J. Franklin has been named to the United States Hockey League‘s midseason All-Star team.

Franklin was selected to the Western Conference second team.  He is the Stampede’s leading scorer with 16 goals and 25 assists in 41 games this season.  Eighteen of his 41 points have come on the power play.  Franklin has three game-winning goals on the season and his plus-12 on-ice rating is second best on the team. The Forest Lake, MN native is in his second season with the Stampede after posting 60 points in 62 games in 2012-13.

Earlier this year, Franklin served as an alternate captain for Team USA at the World Junior A Challenge in Canada where he helped lead the U.S. to a gold medal. He has already committed to play collegiate hockey at Minnesota State-Mankato next season.

The Eastern and Western All-Star teams were determined by a vote of USHL coaches and general managers.  A total of 24 players were selected for the first and second teams, with each team consisting of three forwards, two defensemen and one goaltender.

The USHL All-Star Game and USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game were not part of the schedule for the 2013-14 season. The Top Prospects Game looks to make a return for the 2014-15 season.

Franklin and the Stampede return to action Friday when they travel to Sioux City to face the Musketeers at 7:05 PM. Sioux Falls returns to the Arena to host Fargo on Saturday at 7:05 PM.
