Fort Thompson Man Pleads Not Guilty to Escaping Jail
FORT THOMPSON - A Fort Thompson man has pleaded not guilty to escaping from jail.
The Mitchell Daily Republic reports that 27-year-old Curtis Miller reportedly failed to return to custody in October after failing to follow jail furlough rules. Miller says his lawyer at the time didn't know Miller was supposed to be in court, which caused him to break the rules of furlough. Miller entered the plea Tuesday.
If convicted of second-degree escape, Miller faces a maximum of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine.
Miller's trial date is set for August.
