The first "Dick Kneip/Bill Janklow Social," is scheduled for Thursday Jan. 3rd at 5pm, in the Holiday Inn City Centre, downtown Sioux Falls. You are invited.

It is the creation of Mark Nelson, local businessman. An old beer advertising poster depicting an elephant(republican) and a donkey(democrat) looking quite stubborn, on one side of the poster, the other side showed the two enjoying an adult beverage and "having a conversation."

Mark brought together friends from both sides of the aisle and laid out the concept. The energy and enthusiasm from that meeting, is making this event happen. The name came easily as the group thought of well known and respected South Dakota politicians. Kneip served as governor in the 1970's. He was from the Salem area and was a democrat. Janklow, the republican, from Moody County, served as Attorney General, Governor, and Congressman. Both men brought enthusiasm and creative thinking to their jobs.
