DESCRIPTION:[caption id="attachment_52859" align="aligncenter" width="630"] (Photo by Tom Shaw/Getty Images)[/caption]    The 25th Annual Greater Sioux Falls Boat\, RV and Camper Outdoor Show is Friday\, Saturday and Sunday\, January 18th through the 20th.  It’s at the Expo Building on the Sioux Empire Fairgrounds.  The show runs from 2-8pm on Friday\, 10am-8pm on Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sunday.    Ted Takasaki will be there sharing his fishing secrets and you can see the newest campers\, RV’s and motor homes from five area dealers.  Come and watch the pointer and retriever dog demos and get some great dog training tips.  Plus\, Great Plains Zoo will have live animals and seminars.    If you’re a fisherman you don’t want to miss this year’s show.  Tackle equipment for ice fishing and fresh water fishing will be on sale.  Also the newest fishing boats\, ski boats and pontoons will get you ready for summertime fun.    If you love the outdoors\, you’ll find camping and outdoor equipment and you’ll see a lot of new snowmobiles\, ATVs and motorcycles from a variety of dealers. Admission is $5 at the door with kids 12 and under are free.

SUMMARY:Ice Fish Fest
DESCRIPTION:[caption id="attachment_56831" align="aligncenter" width="630"] (Submitted By Catfish Bay)[/caption]    Ice Fish Fest was created to start a family wintertime event for Sioux Falls at Catfish Bay. It is one of the few times each year that Catfish Bay is open to the public for Fishing. The proceeds help raise money for the volunteer Catfish Bay Water Ski Team and Camp OnAqua.  We plan to make this an annual family event that could grow into one of South Dakota’s largest ice fishing tournaments and draw participants from miles around. All holes are pre-drilled so all you need to bring is a fishing pole\, warm cloths and a plan to have fun.  Gates Open and Concessions Available at 9 AM    New for 2013\, portable hand pulled shelters placed on a pre-drilled hole will be allowed.  Catfish Bay has been privately stocked with Walleye\, Bass\, Blue Gill\, & Crappie.  Several hundred 14” to 18” Walleye were stocked in the spring of 2012.  Several hundred 12” Crappie & Large Mouth Bass were stocked in the spring of 2012.  Ice Fish Fest is one of the few times Catfish Bay is open to the public for fishing.  Proceeds for the contest help Catfish Bay Water Ski Team buy equipment\, produce shows\, maintain the park and develop youth programs like Camp OnAqua.    Catfish Bay is a man made lake with over 20 acres of water.  Catfish Bay is a volunteer organization.  Catfish Bay is a private facility.  Catfish Bay opened in 1992 and is home to the Greatest Show on H2O.    The show is produced by the volunteer Catfish Bay Water Ski Team. Catfish Bay is home to Camp OnAqua\, the areas only water based youth camp.  There are rumored to Walleye over 20”\, Blue Gills over 1 pound and Bass over 5 pounds at Catfish Bay. DESCRIPTION:It's the 15th Annual "Polar Plunge" in Sioux Falls.    We know everyone's just been counting the days\, waiting to take the Plunge since last year! There are a lot of new changes for this year's Plunge. This year we will be "Taking the Plunge" at a new site....the Sioux Falls Stadium / Pheasant's baseball field. We'll be plunging into a large\, clean swimming pool. Hot tubs will be available to all plungers once you're out of the water.    This year we are\, again\, doing online registration on Firstgiving so spread the word to everyone you know. We will still offer day of event registrations for those who don't register prior to the event.    We are again offering incentive prizes to all plungers who reach certain fundraising levels. Mexica Yolotl\, a Minneapolis-based traditional Aztec dance group will demonstrate the heritage and beautiful pre-Hispanic cultures of Mexico through their stunningly beautiful Aztec dance and dress.  Mexica Yolotl\, meaning Mexican Heart\, is under the teaching of Chief Tenoch Cortes España from Axiochiapan\, Morelos\, Mexico.    Local dancers will share their talent when Martin and Andrea Lopez Estrada\, having recently emigrated from Guadalajara\, Jalisco\, Mexico take the stage.  Martin and Andrea will present traditional or folclórico dances of Campeche and Jalisco\, Mexico.    Tacos\, burritos\, pupusas\, enchiladas\, tortas\, nachos\, elotes\, fruta\, tamales and more will be served up by a number of local Mexican and Central American food vendors\, promising to leave those who indulge more than satisfied.    The Kids’ Zone is sure to entertain and delight younger participants with piñatas\, face painting\, inflatables and more surprises.    Fiesta-goers will also have a chance to win cash by purchasing tickets for a cash-raffle with half of the sales going to the raffle winner and half to Caminando Juntos\, a ministry of the Presentation Sisters with newer Latino immigrants in Sioux Falls and the surrounding area.  Drawing will be held at 7 p.m. the day of the Fiesta.  The Cinco de Mayo Fiesta is a benefit for Caminando Juntos and all proceeds go to support this ministry. DESCRIPTION:The Sioux Falls Veterans Council invites all area residents to the annual Memorial Day program on May 27. This year’s program will take place at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center located at 2501 W. 22nd Street.    The Sioux Falls Municipal Band will begin with a medley of songs at 10:00 a.m. followed by the program at 10:30 a.m.    Keynote speaker will be Butch Haugen from the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Emcee will be Ed Hruska\, Commander of the Sioux Falls Veterans Council. The El Riad Fife & Drum Corps will make a special appearance.    In case of inclement weather\, the program will move to the Veterans of Foreign Wars\, Post 628\, located at 3601 S. Minnesota Ave.    The quarterly VA Service of Remembrance for recently deceased Veterans will be held in the front foyer of the medical center at 1:30 p.m.
