Early Morning High-Speed Chase

Early Morning Police Chase
Argus 911

A Sioux Falls man is facing charges on the local and state levels after an early-morniing chase that ended in Lennox.

Police Officer Sam Clemens says it began around 2:30am when a 17-year-old girl was visited at her home in the 900 block of South Sunburst Place by the 20-year-old man she had broken up with, and she called some friends for help.

When they arrived, the man identified as Chase Ryan Stevens, punched one of them and threatened the girl and her friends, and a pursuit involving two vehicles began as the girl tried to get away from Stevens.

Police were called and pursued the Stevens vehicle from 26th and Marion, and later South Dakota Highway Patrol Captain Kevin Joffer says a trooper got involved in tracking Stevens on southbound Interstate 29.

Joffer says the suspect drove on county roads, through a residential area and also on gravel:

Joffer says Stevens’ car got stuck and he ran, but he was located at his mother’s apartment in Lennox.

The Highway Patrol arrested him for eluding, reckless driving, speeding and no insurance.

Clemens says he is charged in the city with aggravated eluding, reckless driving, domestic aggravated assault and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
