Anyone driving in Sioux Falls during the New Year's Eve celebrations is likely to notice more police officers on the street.

Police officials say eighteen additional officers will be working the late-night-to-early-morning shift, and they'll be watching for drunk drivers.

But there's a way to avoid a ride to jail, on New Year's Eve or any night.

Lieutenant Matthew Burns says if you're celebrating, do it safely. Get a sober driver. Call a cab. Make arrangements to have someone drive you if you're drinking.

It's simple, isn't it?

Police investigate enough crashes as it is, without anyone making it worse by drinking and driving.

Now be careful and be safe, on New Year's Eve or any other night.
