Dobmeier Wins Huset’s After McCarl Spins [VIDEO]
Sunday night’s outlaw sprint 25 lap main event at Huset’s Speedway had a capacity crowd entertained. A classic Terry McCarl and Mark Dobmeier back and forth battle put everyone on the edge of their seat.
Then McCarl spins out in turns one and two bringing out a caution flag. Now the entire grandstand is standing.
The fans that didn’t want McCarl to win were letting the world know how happy they were about the black #24 car sitting sideways on the track. The McCarl fans all had a similar look of ‘what to hell just happened?’ on their faces.
Knowing Mark Dobmeier like I do, I know what he was saying to himself at this point. And knowing Terry McCarl like I do, I definitely know what he was saying. This of course will not be included in my story as children may be reading this.
Dobmeier would have the restart lead and would go on for his third Huset’s victory of 2013. This capped off a great weekend for him after getting a second straight win at Knoxville the night before.
In this 25 lap feature at Huset’s, four time track champion Dobmeier of Grand Forks, ND led laps 10-19 and 21-25. Lynton Jeffrey was second, Austin McCarl third, California’s Cole Wood fourth and Jody Rosenboom fifth. McCarl set the quick time earlier in the night at a lap time of 10.830 seconds. He and his son Austin were the only two drivers timing in the 10′s.
In the 360 spints, Matt Juhl of Esterville, IA finally earned his first Huset’s victory in the #09 car after two straight second place finishes. Gary Brown, Jr. wins for a second consecutive time in the street stocks. Greg Eden of Harrisburg won the b mods and Chad Lonneman led all 12 laps in the #17L car in the hobby stocks. Complete results.
